IMANI WINDS

IMANI WINDS
PRESENTED BY CHAMBER MUSIC CINCINNATI

From Mendelssohn to Piazzolla and Wayne Shorter to Stravinsky, Imani Winds infuses new music and new voices into the modern classical idiom. In 2015, they premiered a new work by Frederic Rzewski. Their 2017 – 2018 season includes premieres by Valerie Coleman, Reena Esmail, Nkeiru Okoye, Courtney Bryan and Pulitzer Prize winner Henry Threadgill. A concert-length new work by Imani’s French hornist Jeffrey Scott was written for the ensemble, jazz trio, and string quartet. The Passion musically explores the idea of a fictitious meeting between JS Bach and John Coltrane.
